Sunshine In A Rainy Month (Flashback Friday)

I have not joined in with Country Kids for what seems like forever, but I think it is only a fortnight ago, but even so I always feel guitly when I do not link up because I do enjoy showing what we have been getting up to outside, and supporting Fiona’s linky. However, with the awful weather we have been experiencing the last couple of weeks I have to admit that we have not been out and about as much as I would like or would normally. I do not mind going out in the rain I mean puddles are fun. I also do not mind if we go out in the wind, because as long as we are wrapped up we can endure it. But the wind and rain combos that we have been having have not made for enticing me to get out with the boys.

I know it said on the news that January was the wettest month since records began and I do not think anyone alive can recall so much rain in such a short space of time. Yes we have had flooding caused by the rain before, and we have had disasters like the Boscastle floods of 2004 and Lynmouth flooding in 1952, but the images up and down the country on the news at the moment is just horrendous. I especially feel so sorry for the people of Somerset where the excess of water there is beyond belief! Whenever it rains again (just as it is now) my thoughts are with them and I wonder how much more they and the land can take.

Anyway, back to my Flashback Friday post and I thought I would look back to a Sunday afternoon at the park from the end of last month when we took the boys and their bikes for a trip out while the sun shone and the sky was blue. It had been raining pretty much all week (no change there then!), but this Sunday there had been a break from the wet weather and the sun actually made an appearance. Yes the sun – that bright yellow round thing up in the sky. Do you remember it? Lol. There were still a lot of puddles on the ground and the boys wanted to ride thier bicycles through every single one we found – the deeper and bigger the better! (Of course!).

Let’s hope this wet weather ends soon.

  1. So nice to have some sunshine. I think we had a sunny day one day last week and I told the kids, get your wellies on and off we went. It was miserable the rest of the week so I’m glad we did it. x

  2. The few snatches of sunshine that we’ve had have been so precious, haven’t they? They’ve also been few and far between, it’s getting ridiculous now! Love the photo of Jenson seemingly stuck in the middle of the puddle.

  3. It has been so rainy these last few months, we are lucky not to have been affected by it other than not getting out much, so it was a breath of fresh air when the sun came out and looks like we weren’t the only ones to get out in it. Looks like lots of fun, great pics. #countrykids

  4. I’ve hear all about the rain. I’m sure it helps to appreciate the little things like a nice sunny day- or sunny moments 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
