Great Family shows in the West end – without breaking the bank

Taking your children to see a show in the West End is something they are likely to have looked forward to for a long time, but as a parent or carer, you need not worry about the cost for the same amount of time! West End shows are not always expensive. In this blog post, we detail some great family shows and give you cost-busting tips for your trip to the West End.

The big names…

If you have seen a show advertisement on television or in a newspaper, it is likely you will have seen the big names like “The Lion King” or the “Jungle Book”. Buying at special times is really the only way to make these shows less expensive. Buy well in advance or purchase the special release tickets an hour or so before the show to get the best savings. Remember that last minute tickets sell out fast so this may not be the best idea if you have children who were looking forward to the show that night.

Other great shows…

New shows come to the theatre every year and sometimes it is the lesser known shows that offer the best value for money and the best day out! “Stomp” is a lively dance show that kids and adults of all ages will love. If you are travelling with a younger family, however, you might want to look out for shows like “The Tiger Who Came For Tea” or “Disney on Ice – Worlds of Fantasy”. The best thing about shows like these is that you are likely to have read the stories to your children before bedtime, so they will already know all the characters!

Top tips for saving on ticket prices…

There are a number of things you can do to save money on your ticket prices. If you have plenty of time to plan, make sure you keep an eye out on the theatre website for any advance deals they might have. This is usually a great opportunity to buy family tickets at reduced prices, or secure two-for-one deals. Planning in advance also gives you the chance to peruse ticket agent websites. Ticket agents Theatre Breaks are often able to pass on savings to the customer, so make sure to check the special offers section of their websites often before your trip. You can also save money by buying seats in the balcony or other lower cost seating categories. Often these seats do not mean that you get a bad view, they might just be further from the bar or from restrooms.
