Project 365 2014 #2 (5th – 11th Jan)

So this week saw:

  • An alternative Christmas day and dinner at Granma and Grampy’s where fish chowder and spaghetti bolognese were on the menu, and Jenson enjoyed playing a monkey puzzle game – he won!
  • Back to school for Burton which he was happy about because he had been missing it and his friends since last Thursday!
  • I started helping to set up and run a new toddler playgroup in the same village where Burton goes to school, along with a couple of other Mum’s (whose sons are friends with Burton). This took up Tuesday and Friday mornings and we had a good turn out which is encouraging
  • I decided to cut out TV all week for the boys just to see if it would make any difference to their behaviour. We did lots of fun activties like play dough, making pictures from left over xmas sweet wrappers and playing with new board games from Christmas. We only really watch TV after tea before they go to bed and sometimnes in the morning if we are up early, but I enjoyed not relying on it and they didnt even ask for it to be on!
  • Visiting the park after school to make the most of the lighter afternoons
  • Jenson enjoyed some puddle splashing after all the rain we had at the park where the day before it had flooded
  • Enjoying bike riding and jumping at the park in the sunshine (and no rain!)

  1. It sounds like a lovely week spending quality time together. Charles was happy to go back to school too, such a relief that they clearly enjoy it isn’t it?
Well done you for starting a toddler group! That’s fantastic xx

  2. Beautiful pictures. We do things like limit tv or just have fruit for snacks when girls play up too. Crafty stuff & walks much more fun anyway. Love the 2 of them sat at the little table, they look like little angels xx

  3. Gosh what a busy week. I have tried to ease us gently back to real life. Very brave to do without the telly – I think mine are too old to stop them now! They don’t have it on before school but after school it is sometimes the only way I get any peace as they stop bickering when it’s on! I have restricted it a bit this week though. I love that last jumping picture and the swinging one and the gingerbread man(?) made out of sweetie wrappers – brilliant!

  4. Lovely photos 🙂 Smiled a lot at your boy in his wellies and a puddle! Gosh to be little and go back to splashing in puddles!!

  5. Love the pic of him jumping off the wall……nice to see he is safe in his helmet too!
I have cut out the TV too, to be honest its mostly background noise but it means they focus better on what they are playing with.
Thanks for your comments on mine – i am a childminder already but my course means I can accept children who receive the two year funding and the plan is to do a bolt on course to become a teaching assistant when Seb starts school!

  6. what a nice week, it really is so nice to be able to spend time with them playing. My daughter took over the failing toddles group about 5 years ago and still runs it and it is well attended.
We have had huge amounts of flooding too, feel so sorry for the people whose homes and lives have been devastated by it all.

  7. Sounds like a fun packed week. Well done on the no TV – although mine don’t watch a lot I’m not sure I could cut it out completely without going mad!

  8. I used to run our local toddler group when A was still going, it is fun and a great way to meet other parents. So who’s been eating all the chocs to create the arty wrappers then?! 😉

  9. I think I need to cut out the TV too, although Bee doesn’t watch it but Munchkin does!

sounds like a busy week. Love the fact that you have opened up a group with fellow mums!!

  10. The boys are too cute. You can’t beat getting on the floor with them and playing a board game or two.

I love the photo of them sitting at the table together, roll forward 20 years and I can image them sitting in a cafe talking about their girlfriends.

  11. Love the screen free time you’ve had this week. I should really invest some energy in doing some more things with the kids after school to avoid the fight over the remote!

  12. Wow, you crammed so many activities into your week – fab!
Loving the way the sun is peeking through the tree in that last pic too 🙂 x

  13. Wow good for you for setting up the toddler group, I hope it goes well. Has the TV switch off been a success, I am tempted to do that in the morning as they all sit their glued and it is an effort to get them out of the house in the morning. Good puddle photo x

  14. Well done you for running the toddler group, I bet Jenson loves that? The Boy was desperate to go back to school as well as I think he was missing his friends, we had meant to have a play date with others but the holidays flew by! Love that jumping shot from Burton, he’s so long.

Thanks for linking up to Project 365.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
