Kimberly’s 30th and 40th Birthday Parties (Flashback Friday)

Last Saturday night my best friend Kimberly held a party to celebrate her 40th birthday. You may have seen the cake I made for this here . Her actual birthday is the 30th January which she shares with my Dad, who is 20 years her (and my) senior. Myself, Beth and Elaine attended – all of us best friends since school and that is a looong time now.

Anyway, Kimberly has had several parties over the years all of which I have attended, but the only one from her past which I have photos from is her 30th, taken pretty much 10 years to the day as the 30th January 2004 was on a Friday! I cannot remember whether the party was held on the Friday, her actual birthday, or the Saturday but I do remember that it was held at the Lenwood Leisure Centre in Bideford and back then we all looked like this

218168_2081337751143_7211804_n207473_2081359831695_7129131_nI know that back then I was more interested in drinking and dancing than nibbling at the buffet and sitting down and chatting, as we all were, which is funny because on Saturday I drank all soft drinks and enjoyed eating some of the food on offer, and all of us apart from the birthday girl sat down and talked!! Also 10 years ago we all headed out into Bideford afterwards to carry on partying at one of the clubs! Last Saturday however, when the party ended at midnight, although I was one of the last ones to leave (there were only a handful of us left til the end) I drove straight home to bed afterwards! How times change, hey?

So 10 years on and look at us all now kimandelainebethmeandelaine

Not much different really.

Older? Yes

Wiser? Maybe about some things

Still as silly? Sometimes

Still prepared to wear balloons on our heads? Absolutely

Just like our friendships – some things never change.

  1. Looks like you had a great time at both parties. It’s amazing how things change over years but your friendships, true friendships, never change. I’m definitely more a buffet and chat person now LOL I can’t deal with hangover.

  2. Great post. My friends and I often chat about the change in our relationship because of going from being single then marriage and children. Love your simple words at end of post too, simple but true with a good friendship.

  3. It’s lovely that you have all stayed in touch over the years and you really haven’t changed very much! Love that you are all still big kids with the balloon hats too.

Looks like a great party xx
