I dont know why it is that during the warmer months of the year I tend to take the boys to Instow beach, while during the colder ones I take them to Westward Ho! where there is always a freezing cold wind despite any sun that is shining down on us. However, last Saturday on a spur of the moment drive towards the Ho! I took the boys there and for once there was no wind, it was not cold and it was dry!! Infact it did not seem like it was November at all as we arrived wearing just jumpers, and without the need for coats and hats too which we normally need to wrap up in when we visit at this time of year.Like this time last year when we went to Westward Ho!However, when I say dry…….well let me explain. Every time I take the boys to Westard Ho! Burton always manages to either fall over in one of the sea water puddles or goes in too deep and his boots fill with water and then it is time to end our trip. I dont recall visitng this beach for longer than about 30 minutes at a time.
Anyway, we arrived at the slipway part of the beach and I put the wellies on them both and off we headed to the sand, which to get to we needed to wade through a large mass of sea water. Having told Burton and Jenson about 3 times to be careful and to not go into deep, no joke about 3 minutes after stepping on to that beach Jenson fell onto his bottom into the cold water!!
Despite looking like he was going to burst into tears, and being offered the chance to go home right away to dry off and change, Jenson insisted he wantes to stay and play. However, literally about 5 minutes later Burton did exactly the same thing except hs fell forwards!!! Honestly, I could not believe it and because it was an unpromptu visit I had no change of clothes or towells on me!
Still, both boys plodded on for another 30 minutes or so in wet trousers, wellies and socks , to the point where I could hear the water sloshing around inside their boots! However, this did not deter them from having fun and wading into more rock pools and climbing up the rocks surrounding the pools of sea water. They had a whale of a time!
Both boys filled their buckets up with pebbles from the beach making them far to heavy for them to carry back to the car (guess who got that job then?!). And I did feel bad because once back at the car I stripped off their trousers, wellies and socks and quite a bit of water poured our of their boots!!! Still, once I warpped their legs with whatever came to hand – namely some coats and I turned the heater up in the car they were both happy and wanted to know when we could return!

I’m glad they didn’t want to go straight home – sign of growing up maybe. Gorgeous photos (as ever). Thank you for hosting.

Aww bless them! At least they wanted to stay for a bit and it wasn’t a wasted journey. It looks like they are having a great time despite their wet feet x

Still looks like a lot of fun was had even if they were wet through. We can’t go for a walk without my son sitting in a puddle 🙂
Susan
How much they have grown in a year. Looks like a great day

Despite being wet it looks like they had such a great time on the beach rock pooling and playing with the water and sand. Thanks for linking up and sharing their beach fun with Country Kids.

So great that they were happy to be splashing around in their wet wellies 🙂 But, that’s the great thing about being a kid! Lovely post and photos.

That is how it always is…never have spears of anything when you need them! Looks like they managed to have a good time anyway!

I don’t blame them for not wanting to go home, they look like they’re having a whale of a time and I would love to be exploring those rock pools with them.

So appropriate for linking up with me! Glad it was milder & your boys are showing just how much they love being outdoors no matter how wet their feet are!

Love this post. It’s exactly on pint to the day we had at the beach recently that I posted about. We were walking across the promenade to the car and I could hear squelching in my sons boots. We tipped the, out and heaps of water came out which had us all giggling. They love running in the sea cold or not . Such a great adventure. #countrykids

What a wonderful trip. Burton sounds very much like my Little Man. He always ends up soaking wet even without a trip to the beach! We went to the park this morning and he came back with soaking wet feet. Sounds like there will be lots more beach adventures for you!
Thanks for sharing at the Outdoor Play Party 🙂
