Muddy Puddle

We visited the boy’s grandparents yesterday and I packed some spare clothes and their wellies just incase, as I had a feeling that the puddles outside in the drive way would prove hard to resist after the downpours we had.

After kitting them out in suitable attire for splashing in puddles, the boys raced to the nearest big puddle and SPLOSH!!! They both jumped up and down so fast and eagerly that it was not surprising that the mud leapt out of the puddles and sprayed them all up their trouser legs, the back of their coats, their arms and even in places on thier faces and hats!!!

Their carefree abandonment was a pleasure to see. Their enthusiasm for puddle jumping was infectious and their giggles and smiles funny and heart warming. I love my boys and I love thier zest for life and thier ability to hunt down the biggest and muddiest puddle there is and to make a bee line for it and get stuck right in!

Within literally minutes of being out of Granma’s front door, Burton and Jenson were soaked and mud stained.

Did they care?

No

Did I care?

No, afterall this is what childhoods are made of and what washing machines were invented for!

  1. Wonderful messy play! I bet they had a fantastic time getting wet and dirty – as you say that’s what washing machines are for. Thanks for linking up and sharing their splashing time with Country Kids.

    • tell me about it – ours were only just dry from our trip to the beach the other week and then a wade in the river!! they are constantly wet inside! x

  2. Every kids dream! I should let Cherry do this more often, I’m always getting to stop in-case she gets drenched but sometimes I guess it has to be done! Love the new look by the way, sorry if it’s been like it for a while, I’ve had no time to do anything lately and blog reading has massively suffered! xx

  3. Ah they look like they are having so much fun!! I should let F do this more often but i am a bit of a stresshead and he always does it on the way to places when we are short of time! 🙂

  4. Puddles bring out the best in most people! They are fantastic and the kids show us just how care-free and easy life can be. Popping over from #countrykids

  5. Ha that looks like a particularly muddy puddle as well! We did this earlier in the week but ours weren’t quite so large and muddy. But I agree, puddle jumping and getting messy is a part of childhood, and they are definitely the kind of moments your boys (and you) will remember! x

  6. Now that is an awesome puddle! I’ll admit I’d find it hard to resist myself, and they look like they’re having a whale of a time!

  7. brinabird and son

I have found a strange new joy in taking pictures of my son & showing how muddy he is! It’s inevitable these days!

  8. Awwww brilliant ordinary moment. How are little ones drawn to puddles I have a good splash and jump. It’s the same in our house, whether or not he has wellies on 🙂

  9. Ah that’s fab. I love puddle jumping! My boys aren’t so sure about it though – one really isn’t bothered with jumping in puddles and the other loves jumping in them so much but cries the second he gets wet and muddy and immediately wants to take off his trousers!! It causes problems on our way home from preschool on wet days because he runs straight for the puddles and then has a huge tantrum because I won’t let him take off his trousers to walk home naked!! x

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
