I don’t think I had any teddy bears when I was a baby. I have to be honest, I have always found this a little odd. Certainly none have ever appeared as I got older from my Mum telling me “oh this was your teddy when you were a baby Jen”. My brother on the other hand had a few teddies I recall that he had ‘Little Bear’ and ‘Blue Bear’.
My two boys have so many cuddly toys that there is a bin bag full of some that they don’t even have in their in room because there would just be too many! Also because the ones I am keeping out of their everyday reach are ones that they were given as newborns ans a couple were given to me when i was pregnant with each of them. So being that little bit more special, at least I think the sentiment behind them are, I don’t want them to get ruined through play and rough and tumble.
The only stuffed toy I had as a baby was a knitted doll. I think my parents had wanted me to call it Susie – they may have christened her that when I would have been too young to talk let alone think up a girls name! Anyway, I only know this doll as Saucy – yes you heard that right Saucy!!
I can only imagine that as with many words I was unable to pronounce as a toddler, Saucy was my way of saying Susie. I know that I would call motorbikes ‘tomatobikes’ and the reason my Na’s were named ‘Na’ was because my grandparents were meant to be called Nanny and Nana but I drooped the extra ‘na’.
I still have my knitted doll, she is at my Mum’s house somewhere in her attic she is in prettty good condition from what I remember as I havent seen her for a few years now.
Here is me, my ‘Saucy’ and my brother. I think I would have been almost 3 years old here

HAHAHAH that’s is funny. You should get “Saucy” doll down from the attic and feature her in your posts. Lovely photo of you both. You are such a cutie x

Awww, that’s so cute that your toy was called Saucy. I love kid-named toys. My brother had a rabbit called Puppy!!! X

ha! I love it. I thought it was going to be called Saucy because you had an obsession to Tomato Sauce or she had a tomato sauce stain on her! x

ooh saucy! don’t whatever you do give it to your boys, however good it still looks – my old blankie was still in great condition & Sam had it but it just disintegrated with every wash…I think I have a thread left somewhere 🙁 x

Love the idea of you calling a doll Saucy when your parents wanted it called Susie – they must have been motified.
