This will just be a quick update as I don’t have anything that exciting to report about my journey to feeling (and looking) fabulous at 40.
I still haven’t done any ‘shredding’ since a week last Sunday as my knee has still been twinging all week, from walking and two trips to soft play last week. I am hoping to try it again next weekend when it will have had two week rest, and I can see if I will be able to continue. As much as I hated working out to Jillian’s DVD I cannot deny that it DOES work and I did shed some inches (7 in total), so I would like to lose some more and therefore I hope my knee complaint is just a one off. Of course, it may be that my knee cannot take that kind of workout and I will need to hang up my shredding shoes and find an alternative. My OH has suggested I try the kinnect exercise so I will be looking into this.
Without my 20 minute fix each evening, I haven’t been sitting around doing nothing – oh no! Last week I went for long walks with the boys on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (total miles approx 6) and soft play on Thursday and Sunday which always wears me out (and hurt my knee!) and I did 50 ab crunches (slowly!) each morning too.
I am continuing to eat sensibly and only when I am actually hungry and not just bored. I haven’t stopped eating the occasional slice of cake or biscuit but its not every day like it once was. I really don’t feel as hungry as I did which must be a sign that the slimpod has also been working.
I honestly wasn’t expecting any inch loss this week without the shred putting me through my paces BUT when I did my weekly measure last night, I was pleasantly surprised with some of the results:
Hips 40.5 inches
Stomach 36.5 inches
Chest 34 inches
Waist 34 inches *
Thigh (right) 25.5 inches
Upper arm (left) 13.5 inches
Amazingly that’s another 2 inches gone which I find astounding considering that I haven’t done any exercise other than walking and just continued to eat sensibly.
In just 4 weeks I have lost 8 inches in total, mostly from my hips, as on the 28th January my measurements were
Hips 43 inches
Stomach 38 inches
Chest 36 inches
Thigh (right) 27 inches
Upper arm (left) 14 inches
(I forgot to take my waist measurements then!)
Not bad at all. It does make me wonder how much more I could have lost had I continued with the 30 Day Shred.
I still don’t know if I have lost any weight as I am steering clear of the scales for the time being. However, in the last week 4 people have noticed that I look a little slimmer and for the first time since I had Burton I managed to wear a pair of trousers and do the button up, which 4 weeks ago I couldn’t even do up!!
I will continue with my journey to feeling fabulous by the time I am 40 (hopefully sooner as that’s over a year away), but I may do more sporadic updates now possibly monthly instead of weekly as I have been doing up until now.
Here’s to the next 4 weeks of getting my pre baby figure back.

Sounds like you are doing great Jenny! I have lost a little bit of weight since January mostly though walking, I would love to be able to do that many sit ups each day though x

8 inches in less than a month is amazing!! That’s so much! I hope your knee gets better soon but it definitely sounds like you’re on the right track even with the break you’re having.

Well done, that is amazing! You have inspired me to get 30 day shred myself (and do it hopefully ;))Maybe I should look into slimpod too as chocolate and biscuits are my weakness although I’m afraid of not wanting them ever if that makes any sense?! x
