Sooooooo you may recall that last week I announced to the world that I was on a mission to get Fabulous and Fit in time for my 40th.
I am doing this in two ways – exercise and eating less.
Since November I have been listening to a slimpod, and I have to be honest that up until a fortnight ago I didn’t think it was really working for me. However, recently I have noticed a difference in my eating habits in that I am serving myself smaller portions and feeling full after and I am managing to leave the biscuit tin alone in as far that I may have one or two throughout the day, but that’s it. I don’t feel the need to scoff most of the packet.
Then a week ago today I began my 30 day dread as I like to call it, I am of course referring to the infamous 30 day shred. I have been managing to find 25 minutes each day to complete the exercise DVD and I wont lie it has been tough going at times.

me after day 2 with my temporary hand weights! |
My knee has taken some of the strain and for the last three days I have reduced some of the high impact cardio exercises, for lower impact ones and tonight’s session, my 7th, was better on my knee again (phew!).
I still hate doing the jumping jacks – I thought my pelvic floor muscle was quite good considering, but actually, it transpires that it does not appreciate me doing star jumps!! Butt kicks, jump rope they are all fine but jumping jacks uh uh!!
I have noticed that some jeans that were tighter on me before Christmas fit me better which I think is a good sign that my body is beginning to make small changes, which in turn helps me and motivates me to keep going. As I mentioned in last weeks post, I am not weighing myself at the moment mainly because I don’t have any scales that work in my house. Also because I think the scales can ruin all the good work you can do, you exercise well, eat less and your clothes feel they fit better but then you can weigh yourself and discover you maybe haven’t lost any weight and it can depress you. So I am just relying on measurements for now.
So, after the first 7 days I now look like this
I think there is definitely less over hang now!
Anyway, here are the all important measurements
Hips 41.5 inches
Stomach 37.5 inches
Chest 35 inches
Thigh (right) 26.5 inches
Upper arm (left) 13.5 inches
Total inch loss – 4!!
So overall I am impressed by my inch loss – a loss all over which is brilliant and proof if proof was needed that the 30 day shred does appear to be working 🙂
This week will start to get trickier as it reaches its end, as by day 11 I am meant to progress to level 2 of the shred *gulps* I haven’t even taken a peek at this yet. I hope it wont be too much harder. I am still doing mostly ‘girlie’ push ups on level 1 !!
And finally, I owe a massive thank you to a 30 day shred facebook support group which was started last week where other bloggers can support, motivate and rally each other on. This group has really helped me and I want to thank those lovely ladies. (you know who you are )
Lets see what results another 7 days of shredding brings.

Thank you xx

Yay well done!! That’s a big difference already. God, it does sound tough though…not sure i like the sound of jumping jacks. I did bodyrock last year and it was the lunges that used to kill me!

Well done you! I am so with you on the scales front, thinking I may have to stop weighing myself until the end.
