Mornings!
Some are good, some are great and some can be bad especially if you have had the kind of night when your child/children have had you up for most of it!! Each morning you are never quite sure how the day will turn out, even if you have a rough idea of what you hope to achieve because I find that most days, despite following a similar and mostly predictable pattern, often have moments of unpredictability.
I think the morning that I was faced with the most amount of uncertainty since becoming a parent, was that first one after you bring your newborn home. I remember waking up, having already been up during the night feeding, to see my new bundle of joy asleep in his moses basket and feeling a bit over whelmed. This was it, no visitors were around, no hospital staff: just Burton, Daddy and I! Although knackered and still a bit shell shocked, I was still in a state of euphoria so I didn’t really mind feeling like a zombie!
This was taken early on Burton’s first morning at home with his mummy and daddy: he didn’t know us, we didn’t know him. We were all still finding our way as a family of three, but it was a perfect morning!
Jenson’s first morning at home was also perfect as we adjusted to being a family of four, but it was different because I knew what to expect this time and those lazy mornings in bed which I had with Burton I never experienced with his baby brother, because I had another child to look after too. Nevertheless, here is my second born taken on his first morning at home.
Still feeling shell shocked but knowing that eventually those long nights would become come better one day, because I had experience of having been a mummy before.
Those first mornings are magical aren’t they? And how quickly we forget them too!

A lovely post Jenny, and lovely photos as well. I was terrified bringing Mads home, in fact i stayed with my Mum for a week as it was Christmas so I didn’t bring her home until she was a week old! By then though I was even more terrified! x

Ah love it, got to be my favourite take on the prompt (even beats my sunrise!) I loved the early mornings  (I think, maybe not so much at the time but looking back they seem idyllic!)  I’ve already thought how different they will be this time round – maybe not so pleasant!Â

Aw, lovely post with beuatiful pics. I treasure those early mornings with a newborn too where sleep/awake/feed/cuddles all blur together and it feels like there’s no one else in the world. Loved your post, thank you.

Such a beautiful post. I remember that first morning with my first baby. By the time number three came along, it was much the same as any other morning with two others to get ready for school. A shame in a way.

Gorgeous pictures. I felt exactly the same when we first brought ours home. My main thought though was “Oh my god, what have we done” lol x

I don’t remember the first morning – everything in those early days was a bit of a blur! We came home from the hospital just before midnight after I delivered mere hours earlier and didn’t get to sleep until 4am because my son wasn’t nursing well. Haven’t got a clue what happened the next day though!

They are such perfect photos, how quickly they have grown. I remember that first morning with Z. He just stared up at me like he was taking me in. Don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment.

I adore this take on the theme Jenny. The Boy was born at 9.35am and by the time I was out of theatre and able to take the first snaps of him it was 11.30 and I was still doped up on epidural etc. It all passed me by very much in a blur. The photos of the boys are beautiful and show such love.

Oh yes, I had forgotten, what a brilliant morning memory! Totally magical and I remember staring at BB waiting for my Mum to arrive and hubby had gone to work and welling up with emotion and suddenly in floods of tears. When Mum arrived she thought something terrible had happened and asked me what was wrong, and I sobbed ‘I just love him so much!”Â
