This week for The Gallery Tara has asked us to state our photographic resolutions for this (new) year.
If I am honest, I want to make sure that I appear in more of the photos this year as I tend to feature mostly behind the lens than in front of it. I think this is a common scenario for many mums.
I know that as much as I wanted to be in the photographs taken by my OH showing me holding my newborn baby, and in the ones that followed in the weeks ahead, at the time I looked and felt knackered and I mostly shyed away and asked to not be included, or to have them taken from the neck down!
I regret that now because when I look back at the photos taken with both of my boys, I am not in very many of them after the initial photos taken after they are first born has passed. Stupid really, because yes I was tired, my eyes do look heavy, my hair was a bit unkempt, my body was still out of sorts, and out of shape and my clothes were not the most flattering – BUT I had just had a baby and then I had another baby 19 months later ! That’s what happens – c’est la vie!
So this year I am going to try and be in more photos with my boys – even silly ones taken on my phone by me if need be. Burton takes photos of me too and I usually delete them but I am trying not to at the moment because even though some of them are taken first thing when I have been up a lot in the night with Jenson, and I could look a LOT better, it doesn’t matter to him. He just sees ‘me’, his mummy and he doesn’t care that I look knackered or a bit fat, and that is what I keep telling myself when I hear him say “cheese mummy” and I am still in my baggy pyjamas with bed hair and no make up!
So here are some photos taken mostly by Burton and I in which I am in front of the camera

January 2012 |
It just shows us being silly, being together and having fun – a good start to the year already!
(
oh and I have included one showing me around 6.30am after about 3-4 hours sleep which Burton took – I think you will know which one! At the end of the day that is how I have looked – indeed do look that time each morning- quite a lot recently. Its honest and its real!)
Now pop over to Sticky Fingers and see what other photography resolutions have been made today

Love the photos of you two in hats, very funny. And I think you look great at 6:30am in the morning, I don’t want to know what I look like at that time of day 😉
Funky Wellies
Well, if you ask me, that is a great resolution, because you guys look fantastic together, so much fun! And you look lovely, yes, even after 3-4 hours of sleep.
Sarah
Awww, well done! Such fun, natural photos, full of love – your children will LOVE you for them when their older 🙂
Shell Louise
I love your photos.
I decided to concentrate more on the details of things for my resolution because I couldn’t bring myself to post photos of me but I’ve just realised, (well it is early and I’ve only had 1 cup of coffee!) seeing your photos and reading your post that I can still aim to be in the pictures more…I just don’t need to put them online! I can let the kids take photos of me and have my picture taken with the children without having to show the world. As long as the kids have them there in future years that’s all that matters 🙂
Nikki
Funnily enough that is one of my resolutions as well! In fact I think this will be a common one – it just goes to show that there are lts of mums out there who take endless photos but don’t have the confidence to be in them! Lovely pictures though and great that your son took them too!
Erica Price
They’re fun pictures and kids love taking pics don’t they? It seems Burton has a flair for it.
Mummy's Space
Love your photos – they are all so much fun! I should really try and get in more photos too, I’m always the one taking them plus I do really hate photos of me but you are right about how great it is to have photos to look back on in years to come – it is something that cannot be rectified once the time has gone by and it is a shame to miss out on. I will definitely try and get in more thanks to seeing your post x
Cheetahs In My Shoes
lovely lovely – maybe I have to add that to my resolutions too…
Lindsey
I think you’re absolutely beautiful 🙂 x
Mama Syder
Love your photos, they are filled with fun! My resolution is the same…to be in more photos. I think a lot of us bloggers are usually behind the camera rather than in front x
Multiple Mummy
We like honest and real, but I would be chuffed to bits if I looks that good on 3 hours sleep! It shows a great start to the year, I hope you are in more of them! x
Susan Mann
I think you look fantastic and as we discussed we should be in more photos with our boys. I have mentioned you in my post xx
Herding Cats
Great resolution. However I’m not brave enough to get directly in front the camera just yet.
