Tara has really got me pondering this week as to what to choose for her GUILTY PLEASURES theme for The Gallery.
After much deliberation I have decided to go with
Take That!
Yes Take That (let’s out a little scream!)
When they emerged the first time around I would have been about 18, and I remember hearing their music on the radio and thought the songs were catchy. By the time I went to university, they were massive! Although we had a poster of them in the lounge of the house I shared, and I loved, I said LOVED dancing to ‘Relight My Fire’ standing on top of the speakers at Luxors nightclub in Leicester (oh the shame lol), it just wasn’t cool to admit to liking them especially when you were in your early 20’s, and everyone you hung out with were into house dance music!!
By the time they split up, I thought they had released some really good pop songs near the end and although I never bought a Take That album, I did buy a greatest hits CD about 5 years after they finished.
However, when Take That reformed a few years ago, suddenly it was cool to like them and admit it out loud that you liked their music. And let’s face it, suddenly they were (and still are!) hot – I mean hot in a manly, grown up way. Even Gary, bless him, who back in the day was always seen as the fat, ugly member has blossomed and XFactor at the moment is worth watching just to see his face each week!
I would never have gone to a Take That concert during their first spell of fame, but since they reformed I have been twice and should have gone a third time this summer but due to having a newborn I couldn’t go, sadly. Seeing Take That in concert is fan-bloody-tastic and I found myself screaming and singing along with the best of them.
So yeah Take That are a guilty pleasure of mine because somehow I shouldn’t like a ‘boy’ band at my age but somehow it’s ok and I just love, yes LOVE, seeing them perform *sighs*
For other guilty pleasures pop over to
Thank you xx
Mari
Ah Take That another of my guilty pleasures too but not the one I have chosen to go with today 🙂 I love seeing them on stage and maybe their first comeback tour was the best for me there again maybe the second was oh and the last one with Robbie was fab too, can’t make my mind up!

Lol, I loved Take That first time around…Im not as keen now although Jason Orange still has a certain ‘something’ that I still find attractive. I was actually crazy over them back in the 90’s and ‘Babe’ was my favourite tune x

I have to say I never been into Take That music( saying that I love Robbie), I am more a Depeche Mode girl, but can still remeber when they started as I was just living in England. I hope you will manage to see them one day. I went to see Depeche Mode only a few years ago when we moved to London and I felt like seventeens again…Hope you will see them soon too 😉
actuallymummy

Excellent – I secretly liked them first time around but would never admit it back then. To add to that I remember being a tad obsessed with New Kids On The Block when I was quite young..
Mum2babyinsomniac
I like Take That! Although I was just starting to listen to music when they split up so they are only my guilty pleasure now they have come back. My OH hates them! I like them even more now Gary Barlow is on The X Factor – he is yum! Don’t think they should have taken Robbie back though x
mummydaddyme
I like Take That- especially Never Forget, it was the last dance at my wedding and I will never forget it!! (Pardon the pun!) Â I bet you are loving good old Gazza being on X Factor! x
jessies_online
oh yes, I’m with you on this one….went to see The Circus & earlier this year to the Progress tour, both equally as brilliant.

Dear Beautiful Boy
Nothing to be guilty about here. Like you say, it’s officially cool to like Take That these days. And I’m pretty glad about that because it was the first concert I ever saw when I was about 10 and now I can proudly share that fact instead of mumbling it under my breath. But don’t tell anyone that the second concert I ever saw was Steps………… ooops!
Kimberly Fanson
Such happy happy memories Jen …. certainly my guilty pleasure also 😉 [screams, swoons & sings!] We will get to see them again, I promise you <3 Love Kxxx

When they were first big Robbie was my favourite but I love Gary now, so much talent.. Even if he is a bit grumpy on X factor sometimes 🙂
Jacq
LOL! Take That never really made it to NZ so I have to admit I’m not sure what the fuss is about!! But they do seem very popular so I think it’s a case of me just not ‘getting it’.
Rachel
Haha…nothing wrong with liking a bit of TT. I wasn’t a fan first time round, but I quite like them now they’re grown up 🙂
Susan Mann
wow really. I’m so not a fan sorry. But each to their own 😉 x
Lindsey Welch
Haha! I was a fan back then and a fan now! I even made a little ‘memory box’ when they broke up, I think it’s still at my parents house! I love them, love love love them. They make me smile. I wouldn’t feel guilty about it at all 😀 xxx
Caroline Enstock

Funky Wellies
I was not too keen first time around, I like them a lot more now. One can feel how much you are addicted just by reading your post! My guilty pleasure music wise is definitely Bon Jovi… 😉
Multiple Mummy

Baby Genie
Based on the increasingly gorgeous Gary Barlow I think this is a very allowable guilty pleasure!

I love Take That! I went to see them in June and they were amazing. I’m also Robbie mad, always have always will be! But I do agree that Gary is looking super hot these days! And I’ve always had a thing for Mark….
