Jenson took his first crawling movements this morning! He managed to cross the width of his playmat – twice! It took him a while with lots if grumbles and grunts but he did it. He isn’t even 6 months old yet – I am quite in shock really. It got me thinking about his big brother and his first steps towards becoming a toddler.
Burton took ages to get moving across the floor and I would say it was around May/June 2010 when he first started showing signs of being able to make himself mobile.
He didn’t start by crawling, preferring instead to kind of ‘swim’ across the floor. He used to pull himself along using his elbows – sounds odd but ‘swimming’ is the best description!! He could get around very fast too – it amazed me.
He didn’t actually crawl for some months later – we were beginning to think he would go from his ‘swimming’ straight to walking and bypass crawling all together.I think it was around August/September that he began crawling and with our help could stand and walk a few steps
He was late at walking in the end as he finally got around to it by late November aged 16 months. I was very relieved as I was pregnant and having to carry him so much was hard work and tiring.By the time he did walk he was very good at it and strong on his legs so didn’t fall over very much.
So this is why I was so taken aback with Jenson this morning starting so young. I guess he was always going to begin a little sooner than his big brother did as younger siblings tend to, so I hear anyway!

Thank you xx

And it is right! I noticed that with my two, Second Daughter was always trying to imitate her big sister, still sometimes does! Love the “swimming” description.

I thought Leo wouldn’t crawl properly, he did it comando style for ages then crawled  just before his 1st birthday, he was 16 months old too when he walked!

Burton is so cute! Doesn’t always follow that the 2nd is quicker than the 1st….Sam was 15mths, Hanna was 17mths & Jack 16mths…thought he was going to be quicker as he was a lot more active than the other 2.

Absolutely precious! Just shows that EVERY child is different. I’m sure Jenson is just trying to keep up with Burton so he’s raring to go! Go Jenson Go! 😉
Thanks for taking part in Flashback Friday again lovely. Only 3 today including you…not sure we’ll keep on but I’ll keep you posted. Might have to try harder to see if people really want to do it. But thanks for your support! 😉

Well done Jenson! I love watching mine although it can be slightly scary when he’s heading somewhere he shouldn’t be (or pulling himself up!). I love Burtons shoes in the pics. Very cool!!
Multiple Mummy
Oh how lovely! Noah commando crawled for ages and then decided to walk at a year, but the twins went straight to crawling but were much later! It is so nice to reminisce! x
The Boy and Me
I was going to comment on this when I read it from your Flashback Friday, but shall do it as a ShowOff ShowCase link-up!
It’s amazing when they start to move isn’t it? I’ll never forget when The Boy started to commando crawl across the floor at 5 month old! At six months he went up on all fours and did two leg movements and one hand on Christmas Day. Every child is so different, well done Jenson for getting moving!

Aahhh – a lovely flashback Friday – did you mean to link this up to Showcase though as it says a different title on the linky. Either way it was lovely. I find it so interesting how they all learn to move about in such different ways. You’d think it’d be the same.Â

Isn’t it funny how something like that can be so different for each child! Jacob finally crawled 2 weeks before his 1st birthday, I thought it was never going to happen!
