I was recently tagged by the lovely Mirka from All Baby Advice in a meme which was started by the very creative Maggy from RedTedArt.
To highlight the fantastic work being undertaken by Save The Children with their “No Child Born To Die” Campaign, Maggy started a meme asking us to get our children to draw or make a self portrait of themselves either of them now or in the future.
I asked Burton to draw himself and he did this picture
We are so lucky living in the UK where our children are born with a future and a life to lead. I feel very fortunate that both of my children will grown up with so many opportunities that we take for granted.
So many children in third world countries do not get the same opportunities as ours and are lucky enough to live a life, let alone lead a life with an education behind them and a bright future ahead of them. So in January this year Save The Children launched their No Child Born To Die campaign.
The campaign is targeting the provision of vaccinations and healthcare workers as sadly each year 8 million children under the age of 5 die from illnesses, such as pneumonia and diarrhoea. Deaths that our children are protected from due to us knowing how to treat or prevent them from happening.
Currently there is a shortfall in the funding that is needed to save the lives of these children. This month at a meeting held by world leaders in London, Save The Children want to ensure that all donor countries meet this amount of money that is required and save the lives of millions of children in the process.
Christine, a lovely blogger from Thinly Spread, has just returned from a trip to Mozambique to see how the current vaccine process operates. Check out her blog to find out more or visit the
Save The Children website for more information and updates.
If anyone reading this hasn’t already taken part in this wonderful meme and would like to, please take up the challenge and PASS IT ON!! 🙂
Thank you xx
