This week the lovely Hannah from Metal Mummy has asked us to list our favourite 80’s FILM
The are soooooo many great 80’s classics it was really hard to choose my absolute favourite, and besides Back To The Future already got selected by Vicki from neverfoundtheplot and I used Dirty Dancing last week as my favourite Chick Flick.
So I am going with a film which I used to watch a lot when I was a teenager, which, as a girl who never had any luck with any boys I fancied,I felt I could relate to a little with the central characters. The film is SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL
It is a typical teenage story : boy from the wrong side of town fancies the rich, popular and pretty girl at school and does all he can to convince her he is the one she wants. The girl has the popular, rich and handsome boyfriend who causes lots of trouble for our hero, although not as much as his father does who is trying to rule his life and tell him which college he is to attend when he actually wants to do something different. Meantime his best friend, a girl who is more a tom boy, secretly loves him but agrees to help him woo her, despite hating every moment,until he realises it is her he actually wants.
My favourite scene of the film is the one where Watts, the tomboy best friend, is allowing Keith to see if he is a good kisser by practising on her! I used to rewind this scene a lot lol! This is the moment when Keith realises that Watts is more of a girl than he realised.

How have I managed to miss this film??
I’m not sure if I’ve seen this or not. The characters look familiar, but I just can’t remember. Another one I’ll have to check out again 😉

It can’t be any coincidence that this was directed by the same person as directed Pretty in Pink the year earlier….but that this movie had the better ending 😉
Yet another film I’ve not seen but sounds fab. Looks like I’ll be having an 80’s night soon!
A brilliant classic 80’s film – super choice. SO funny as I used to rewind that kissing scene too 🙂
