Last Sunday marked a proud Mummy and Daddy moment for myself and the OH, as our little boy managed to swim on his own for the first time 🙂 Just him and his arm bands and he swam to the edge of the pool on his own without Daddy holding him, several times. I don’t gave an actual photo of this as cameras are not really permitted in the pool *ahem*
We first started taking Burton swimming last January when he was 6 months old
and from the outset he loved it! Splashing around and being dunked and thrown up into the air by Daddy!
From the time he was a month old, Burton was having a bath every night as part of his bedtime routine, and very early on his Daddy splashed him to get him confident with water and being submerged in it. Well Burton has never looked back he loves bath time, he loves having a shower and he loves swimming! I remember other much older swimmers watching Jon as he would ‘chuck’ Burton about in the pool, not sure if they approved or not but amazed that he enjoyed getting splashed about so much! I think his giggles and smiley face showed how much fun he was having. He also would jump in, holding onto Daddy’s hands as he did so, of course!
Burton has never had a formal swimming lesson either it has all been down to Jon and he has done a brilliant job. Burton only started wearing arm bands since the end of January this year, so he has caught on very fast.
Now we will need to repeat this success with the new baby!

thats fab, I used to take Jack to waterbabies & he loved it, being a bad Mummy I haven’t taken him since last summer so I hope he loves it just as much the next time we go! Its not always as easy when you have more than 1 child as you’re not allowed to take them on your own in many pools – I couldn’t take all 3 of mine, even though the older 2 could swim, but I can now Hanna has turned 8!

that is so cute! Swimming is such fun, Isla loves it too, and will be so good for holidays when they can play in the pool! x
