This month I have so many birthdays to remember, friends, family and children of friends and family! So My Something For The Weekend this week, is making some birthday cards for Burton to send to his great grandparents.
Now as many of you will know from previous crafty type posts I have done, I am not very creative really with my hands as my work tends to be a bit slap dash! But with Burton I want him to make things because I know my family will appreciate the extra effort we make. I used to love making cards and gifts for people when I was small.
I found some make your own cards packs in a well known supermarket beginning with S, and it only cost £1.49. Obviously home made cards can be made from whatever you can get your hands on.

So in the pack I got the following tools for the job ——- see here
So I felt it was cheaper than buying card, foam, glue etc separately!
So first things first, Mummy obviously had to cut a character out with scissors (Burton chose a frog for his Great Grandad) – safety at all times lol
And then folded it in half and scored along the outline of its mouth.
Then we needed to decorate the frog which we did with some yellow foam shapes
and some googley eyes (which reminds me of Mister Maker and his annoying OTT pronounciation of the word googley!)|
and then glue it down the centre if the inside of the card and we chose yellow card
Then Burton added some little decorative extras of his own
We also made an octopus card for his Great Nanny in much the same way
So I am sure many of you make your own cards anyway, but if you are in the supermarket I mentioned above then this pack is good value and easy to use (it came with instructions too!). There were also other crafty packs in the sale like finger puppets for example.
If nothing else, maybe this post will inspire you to make something for a family member this weekend.

Wow! £1.49 is EXCELLENT value!! Not bad at all. And LOVE how the little guy is doing some lovely drawing and sticking. Bet he really enjoyed it! Love the opening mouth and REALLY wish you hadn’t mentioned Mr Maker… now I can’t get his “googly” out my head..
Thanks for linking up!

I love this idea and am inspired to let the girls loose with their glue and sticky bits
