Dream Holiday Destinations

dubai

Before I became a Mummy, I used to love going away on holiday. I only ever visited European destinations but it would be the highlight of my year, and something I saved up for and looked forward too every year, and helped make my work life more bearable really!

Now, as a parent with two young children, the most exotic holiday we have had is a trip to Butlins but I do still dream that one day I will visit the far off countries that I dreamed of flying to in my 20’s.  So many to choose from and each one special in its own way, if money and time were readily available, the world really would be my oyster and I could go away on holiday a lot more. There are tropical beaches with their white sands and clear blue waters, Australia and New Zealand also look amazing. However, there is something about America that has always appealed to me probably in part due to the films and TV shows I have watched over the years which have shown off its amazing landscapes, monuments, buildings and coastal views.  Road trip movies like Thelma and Louise have always stuck in my mind, and not just because it was the first time I saw and fell in love with Brad Pitt! I would love to hire a winnebago and take a long road trip around the USA and see everything it has to offer.

Still, it got me wondering what places other people would love to visit, so I asked some other busy parents what country is their dream destination to visit on holiday:

At the moment it’s Kopenhagen. I love Scandinavia. It’s cool, modern and people are really friendly. Plus, I love Skandinavien design.

We’ve been discussing this recently. Our dream destination is Route 66. I know it’s odd but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and when the smalls are older I’ll be on it.

At the moment it’s Iran. It’s always fascinated me, the people are supposed to be incredibly hospitable, the food fantastic and the historic buildings amazing.

I would absolutely love to visit my friends in Australia – lots of them moved there after having kids. Unfortunately though Australia is far far away and not sure when we will be able to afford it..
