I feel a little guilty that due to having committed myself to so many recipe and review work this month, I have neglected writing about the boys and the build up to Christmas!! I have just been so busy and not just wth my blog work, but with all my other duties being a Mummy, a PTA member and a playgroup volunteer!! Therefore, with only 2 days to go until the 25th I decided I had better get on and add a post about what we have been up to this December.
The festivities began back on December 1st with the special delivery early in the morning, all the way from Lapland, from Father Christmas. Inside was a letter, 2 advent calenders and Buddy plus newcomer Jingle Elf who were here to have fun with Burton and Jenson, and report back to Father Christmas about their behaviour!!
The following weekend we chose our Christmas trees and set about decorating them which I love doing! Seeing all of the ornaments again, brings back such special memories of Christmas past, and seeing the decorations which the boys have made over the years. Each December I buy Burton and Jenson a new tree ornament, and this year I bought these beautiful ones from M&S which look like a snow globe.I love the simplicity of red and white for the tree – they just sum up Christmas to me.Once the tree is up, I take the boys along to our local garden centre to see the huge array of Christmas decorations and to see the performing Santas! We normally do this every week until Christmas just because it is free and they love it! Although I do usually end up buying us a drink in the cafe!Burton performed in his school Christmas play which was Jack and the Beanstalk, and he played a blackbird who starred in the Sing a Song of Sixpence scene. It was a great play, funny and a joy to watch – the children and the staff really worked hard and it showed.I was late making my Christmas cake and did not do it until the middle of the month, but the boys helped stir the batter and made a wish each. The cake went down well at Jenson’s pre school!Burton wrote all of his Christmas cards and it took him a long time but I was proud of his efforts as it totalled 35, which is a lot as my hand ached after writing 15 in one go!Every December I like to go to Costa and treat myself to one of their festive drink specials and despite following the SW eating plan, I did let myself go and enjoyed a black cherry hot chocolate with a friend after our weigh in!!!I also treated myself to a new festive mug, afterall with the amount of tea that I drink I think it is justified!Jenson had his pre school Christmas party last Friday, and it was lovely to see him join in this time, as he was reluctant to do so at the summer one back in July. There were bubbles, dancing, puppets and snow and snowballs!Father Christmas paid the children a visit and gave them all a present each. Jenson was not easily fooled though as he explained to me that “it was not the real Father Christmas mummy, just a man dressed in a suit”!!This year I have allowed the boys to help with the wrapping of their gifts to daddy and their grandparents, and to each other , and it has been hilarious seeing them almost letting little things slip, and then quickly remembering that it is a secret!!!!Then Monday I took them to see the nicest Father Christmas ever, he was so kind and attentive and knew exactly what to say. We were there chatting to him for almost 10 minutes and they both listened with great interest to what he was saying, and Burton shook his hand and agreed to be good for the next 3 sleeps so he would get back on the good list!!!!I cannot wait until Christmas Day and to see Burton and Jenson’s faces when they see their stockings full of gifts. However, I am also sad because I much prefer the build up as I LOVE this time of year: choosing what presents to buy, hearing (and singing along, badly! to) all the Christmas songs on the radio, and of course this all ends in a couple of days time!! I am just too much of a big kid really!

I thought it was just me, I couldn’t explain to Aaron at all (he thought I was mad) but I felt sad on Christmas eve! After bouncing around for the last month being excited he couldn’t understand the problem but it was because I knew it was nearly over! Hope you had lovely day, and the festivities are still continuing for youxxx
