Sausages encased in pretzel dough
Ingredients
  • 7g dried yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 125ml warm water
  • 125ml milk
  • 500g strong white flour
  • 50ml vegetable oil
  • 12 chipolata sausages
  • 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
  1. Place the yeast, sugar, salt, water, milk & 100g of the flour in a bowl and mix well with a whisk
  2. Cover with cling film and leave in a warm place for about 2 hours
  3. Cook the sausages as per the instructions on the pack - but remove from the oven after 25 minutes and allow to cool
  4. After the 2 hours, add remaining flour and oil to your batter and mix well
  5. Pre-heat the oven to 200oC / 180oC (fan)
  6. Bring it together with your hands and knead for around 5 minutes - I put mine in the mixer and used the dough hook on a medium speed for the time as I found the dough quite hard to kneed (or maybe I was being lazy!)
  7. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with cliong film and allow to prove for about 30 -45 minutes until risen
  8. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and divide it into 12 pieces.
  9. Roll each 12th of dough in to long thinish sausages then wrap each one around each sausage
  10. Place on a lined baking tray and then brush each pretzel dog with beaten egg glaze
  11. Cook in the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown
