Maltesers - as many as you like out of a large bag (I didn't count them!)
Malteser Truffles - about ½ box (then you are left with some to munch later!)
Malteser Buttons - as many as you like out of a large bag
Red Smarties - ¾ of a £1 xmas tube
Mini Malteser Merryteaser reindeer x 13
Std size Malteser Merryteaser reindeer x 6
Instructions
Pre heat the oven to 180oC / 160oC (fan)
Grease and line 2 x 8 inch sandwich tins
Cream the butter and sugar together for about 5 minutes until pale and soft
Add the eggs and a spoonful of the flour and beat for a few more minutes
Fold in the remaining flour and the cocoa powder
Divide the batter between the two tins and then cook in the oven for 22-25 minutes approx
Leave the cakes to cool
Once the sponges are cold to the touch, make your frosting:
Beat the butter for about 5 minutes until soft
Carefully add your icing sugar and beat again until well combined.
Add the melted chocolate and beat again until smooth.
Now assemble your cake:
Sandwich the two sponges together with some of the Malteser chocolate spread
Now cover the entire cake with the homemade frosting
Take your chocolate reindeer, and stick around the side of the cake alternating between a big and 2 small ones
Once this has been done, carefully add the Malteser chocolates and truffles and smarties onto the top of the cake. I also added some of the red smarties onto the side of the cake, but it is all optional. You can decorate it anyway you like really.
serve and enjoy 🙂
