Project 365, 2017. Week 30

So we have returned from our holiday. Did you miss us? We have spent a wonderful week waaaaay up in the country camping in our camper van, and visited the Lake District via the Peak District on the way up.

There were too many photos to choose from, but I have managed to select my favourites for my week that was. I have adored the Lake District, so beautiful and peaceful and relaxing and despite all the rain we have had a wonderful time.

Here is a glimpse of what we got up to:

Sunday – we stopped at Castleton for lunch and an ice cream and a wonder around. Spent a rainy night on a campsite in the Peaks ready for our final part of our road trip in the morning.

We arrived in the Lake District at lunch time on Monday and found a campsite eventually by Conniston Lake , which the boys enjoyed swimming in tonight after tea

Here we are over looking Derwent Water – such stunning views

I managed to persuade the boys/man in my life to visit Hilltop House, the home of Beatrix Potter which was wonderful and we went on what would have been her 151st birthday too!

We took a boat out at Ambleside lake and the boys enjoyed taking a turn at steering it

We walked from our new campsite in Hawkshead to Latterbarrow which is a stone monument up a huge hill- it was hard work walking the final part, but the views over Lake Windermere made it worthwhile!

The boys went on a chocolate making session which was brilliant fun and such great value too . They had a blast and walked away with 3 chocolate creations each, and very messy faces, hands and clothes!

Our final night so we went out for a meal and a few drinks and the boys were happy to be allowed out in a pub at 9.30pm!

  1. That looks like such a beautiful place to visit. The camper van sounds so much fun. So much greenery and gorgeous smiles. Love the photos, especially the one of the 4 of you xx

  2. It looks like you had a great week, despite the rain. We live so close to the Peak District but it’s not somewhere that we really go to, and I’ve only been to the Lake District twice. You should venture up to Scotland on your next road trip, Dumfries & Galloway is lovely & peaceful too!

What a lovely week you’ve had! The Lake District is such a long way away from you, but it must be great to have the van and be able to break the journey up.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
