So it was semi finals week on the GBBO , and this will be my final Star Baker round up for 2016. For Finals week a guest judge from Tesco Bakery will be selecting his or her favourite 3 bakes and in return those bloggers will receive a fantastic baking bundle prize, again thanks to Tesco.
So the baking theme was Patisserie and the categories were:
Signature: Savoury Parmiers
Technical: Savarin
Showstopper:Fondant Fancies
I had a lot off recipes linked up this week as you can see above, and they were all looking fabulous, and it is never good to read and comment on an empty stomach!!!! So with no further ado here are my 3 choices for Star Bakers:
Parmiers
You did some gorgeous flavoured Parmiers (and not Palmier as I commented on some of your posts – sorry!), from savoury to sweet they all looked and sounded delicious! However, only one of you actually made her own pastry and so for that reason, (aswell as making blackcurrant and liquorice flavoured Parmiers which I think is genius!), congratulations to Andrea for her sweet and savoury Parmiers
Savarin
Wow! All of these were mouthwatering. I have never tried one myself, but seeing all of your scrumptious bakes, I really want to now!!!! I really loved the simplicity of this Apple Savarin, and the flavour of this Lemon and Thyme Savarin, and not forgetting this homage to Paul Hollywood’s recipe by Tanya , who had me giggling away at her yummy looking version! I also adore these Mini Savarins which came close second to Kirsty’s Savarin which does look magnificent, the details from the tin and the colour of her sponge are fab.
Fondant Fancies
Well done to all of you who made the time and effort to make these mini cakes, because I did not as I made my big version! I loved the flavours that so many of you used – so creative and I think a lot of fun was had by a few of you. I also think that a few more would not bother to make them again! Seriously, there were some really beautiful versions of this bake linked up, and if it was not so late now and my eyes were not struggling to stay open I would mention a few (so I apologise, but hope you understand as its almost midnight!) but I am going with the one which made me smile, and one that I just brings out the big kid in me : these adorable Rainbow Surprise Fancies – I LOVE them.
Well done to Andrea, Kirsty and Hannah – a badge is yours if you would like it.
