It’s not good, I am going to give a few Star Baker badges out this week because there were so many varied tarts and pies entered and what the heck, it is my bake off and I can make my own rules from week to week!
Star Baker for the Custard Tart category goes to Blogamomma for her little Raspberry & Vanilla Custard Tarts – they looks so pretty.
We only had 1 Three Tiered Pie, it seems only fair to award another Star Baker to Helen for her roast pork dinner pies – all credit to her because to make 3 pies for one family meal, is no mean feat.
When I watched the Mini Pear Pies on last weeks show, I could not help but feel that as lovely as they looked once cooked, there were such a faff to make! Still, 4 of you had a go (well done ladies) and I am in awe of you, making your own pastry and then poaching pears and managing to bake successful pies! However, I feel that Kirsty’s edged out in front so well done to her.
The sweet tarts and pies were sooooo delicious looking. I think the ones that stood out the most were the salty caramel tarts and so I am going to award 3 more Star Baker awards to:
Baking Queen 1974’s Chocolate & Salted Caramel Tart – oh my, I have died and gone to some kind of salty caramel and chocolate heaven!!!
This droolsome Salted Caramel Pecan Pie – i sooo want some! yum!
And this Millionnaires Shortbread inspired Salted Caramel & Chocolate Tart I was impressed with the homemade caramel sauce, even if Stacey was critical of her own pastry!
I know, I know! I am hungry – but these 3 tarts are just bloomin’ scrumptious looking and sounding.
**To the Star Bakers – If you would like your Star Baker badges please let me know**
Well done to you all though such brilliant pies and tarts – also special mention for the two Gluten Free pastry recipes because I have heard how tricky making GF pastry is! And lastly to superstar Jacob for his amazing Meatball pie 🙂 Genius!
Thank you everyone and hope to see you all again for European Bakes on Wednesday
xx
